#031 Spanish story in PAST TENSE: Can you understand it? 😱

Once upon a time,
Érase una vez,

there was a lizard who always ran everywhere.

She had no patience.
No tenía paciencia.

She would perch on a terrace,
Se posaba en una terraza,

but soon got tired and went to the wall.

After a few minutes,
Después de unos minutos,

she climbed onto the roof.
subía al tejado.

She quickly got tired
Se cansaba rápidamente

and crossed to the next building.
y cruzaba al siguiente edificio.

She always looked for new experiences,
Siempre buscaba nuevas experiencias,

but nothing made her happy.
pero nada la hacía feliz.

She wandered through the city,
Deambulaba por la ciudad,

never stopping.
sin detenerse jamás.

Until one day,
Hasta que un día,

she crossed paths with a cat
se cruzó con un gato

that started to run after her.
que empezó a perseguirla.

The lizard ran with all her might,
La lagartija corrió con todas sus fuerzas,

but the cat was faster.
pero el gato era más rápido.

The cat was catching up to her.
El gato la estaba alcanzando.

She had no other choice:
No le quedaba otra opción:

she had to let go of her tail.
debía soltar su cola.

She let go,
La soltó

and it worked.
y funcionó.

The cat stayed playing with the tail,

and the lizard was able to escape.
y la lagartija pudo escapar.

But her life changed drastically.
Pero su vida cambió drásticamente.

Now, without her tail,
Ahora, sin su cola,

she felt unprotected
se sentía desprotegida

and couldn’t move as fast as before.
y no podía moverse tan rápido como antes.

She had to carefully choose where to settle.

So, she chose the terrace
Así que eligió la terraza

of an adorable family with two children.
de una adorable familia con dos niños.

She hid in a corner where no one could see her,

and for the first time in her life,
y por primera vez en su vida,

she looked around.
miró a su alrededor.

She saw the blue sky,
Vio el cielo azul,

the trees,
los árboles,

and the flowers of the city.
y las flores de la ciudad.

She heard the laughter of children
Escuchó la risa de los niños

and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.

The lizard understood
La lagartija entendió

that she didn’t need to constantly seek new experiences.
que no necesitaba buscar continuamente nuevas experiencias.

She learned to enjoy and appreciate life just as it was.

And so,
Y así,

our restless lizard found peace in simplicity.
